Sustainability Week

In 2004 Carillion held a Sustainability Week to increase awareness and understanding of sustainability across the company; encourage employees to get involved in activities and lead a more sustainable lifestyle; and celebrate the good work we do in the community.

Two years ago a small team of Carillion employees organised a series of sustainability activities over a one-week period in order to promote sustainability. The ‘Sustainability Week’ involved a diverse range of activities and was a great success. It helped to increase sustainability awareness and knowledge as well as demonstrating the business corporate commitment to sustainability. Other benefits also included aspects such as team building and integration between our businesses. The aim was that in 2004 it would be far more widespread across the Group.

Sustainability Week 2004 was held on 5th June 2004 and finish on Friday 11th June 2004. This period was selected because it coincided with World Environmental Day on 5th June. Over 800 Pledges to the environment were made, over 50 sustainability events took place throughout the company and one lucky person became the proud owner of a mountain bike after winning the Sustainability Quiz!

A Carillion Sustainability Week is planned for June 2005, starting on World Environment Day on Sunday 5 June.
