Waste – Corporate objectives and targets
2010 Objective – To demonstrate peer group leadership in delivering solutions to reduce our impact on the environment & in prudent use of natural resources. Recycle 70% office & 40% site waste.
2004 Target – Establish a measure for waste produced across Carillion and, using Zero Waste Strategy, demonstrate target can be achieved on 3 contracts and in 1 major office.
We achieved a score of 83% for this target
The following information was presented to our auditors:
• The measure is tonnes of waste and it was communicated via the supply chain sustainability waste working group.
• A template used to capture waste information in 2004. Note the examples given are as follows;
BP Sunbury 45.55% recycled
Old Hall Street - 25% recycled
Oxford JR - 77.08% recycled
Flacon Wharf - 20.65% recycled
Paddington Walk - 20% recycled
Glencorse barrcks - 72.75% recycled - verified from waste contractor data
Asda, Old Kent Road - 20% recycled - verified from waste contractor data
Unite The Heights, Phase 1 - 73.73% recycled
Morrisons Swan Valley - 75% recycled
Westwood Cross Thanet - in Nov and Dec recycled 25% and 16.3%
It should be noted that many of the projects listed above are ongoing and the figures provided were those from project start to the end of 2004. The auditor observed that that several (5) projects have exceeded the target of 40% recycled waste.
