Issue
A swallow's nest was found in the roof of Lucknow Barracks Officers mess building which we are refurbishing as part of the Prime contract with Defence estates at Tidworth. The nest contained three baby birds and continuation of work may have disturbed the nest.
Solution
Work in the roof void was suspended except of some urgent removal of asbestos paper lined pipes in an adjacent zone of the roof. EMCOR Drake & Scull electricians were asked to stop work in the zone near the birds nest.
That was on 30 June. The three little baby birds in the nest were as small as my little finger nail.
After a week or so they were as big as my thumb's first knuckle and still being looked after by their parents.
